Sea Shell Communications was set up in 2012 by Cathy Shelbourne, a PR and marketing professional who worked in publishing and television before freelancing for a wide range of clients in the natural and built environment.
As well as consultancy work on tourism and the visitor economy, Sea Shell Communications now manages a number of holiday properties, and works closely with local tourism groups and DMOs (destination management organisations). In conjunction with designer Laura Hall and photographer Anthony Cullen, Sea Shell Communications is currently producing a series of visitor guides for tourism destinations in Suffolk and Essex.
Cathy is a very experienced public speaker and writer. She won the Toastmasters International Divisional Contest for best evaluator in 2010, and best table topics speaker in 2019, and mentors and coaches individuals in presentation skills. She is also a member of the Yachting Journalists’ Association (YJA) and the Society for Nautical Research.
“I developed my series of talks on maritime heroes from articles I wrote for lifestyle magazines. Having enjoyed the life on the ocean wave so much during a PR assignment with the BBC on a round the world cruise ship, I now travel regularly as an enrichment speaker.”
